Making Time for God

by Julie Reece-DeMarco

I closed the Bible that lay across my sleeping daughter's chest. Despite her best attempts, trying to tackle prayer and Scripture study at the end of the day was not working. So, we asked the kids to propose solutions for prioritizing our family's spiritual growth.

One daughter suggested not turning on any media in the evening until we've read Scripture together. Another child suggested "sacred Sundays" with nothing else scheduled. So after church on Sundays, our children have a chance to talk to us individually about struggles, successes and questions. We play games, read books and use media — all with a faith element.
