Mirror Messages

by Audra Krell

A bathroom mirror is the perfect place to share words of affirmation with our son. We make it fun by writing encouraging phrases on sticky notes — one word per note. Messages are sometimes general, such as, "We believe in all your dreams." Or more specific: "Your haircut looks great," or "We are so proud of your hard work in school." After our son goes to bed, we stick the notes in random order on his bathroom mirror. When he finds the notes the next morning, he has to put them together to make sense of the message. These words of affirmation encourage him throughout his day.
