I wanted my kids to clean up without my having to nag, so I made a "toy jail," a place where dolls and trading cards peered out from a plastic bag in my closet. Any toys left out after bedtime were sentenced to one week in jail. My kids quickly learned that freedom for their toys meant picking up well.
